Coronavirus, cultus charta et natura (prima sabbati)

At the first moment we knew about the “confinement”, it didn’t seemed to me that it was so bad (I thought it was something cool because it would make us vacation), I was completely mistaken.

Firstly, I realized that I like to get fresh air everyday (weeven if today we can still do sport outings, we have limited distances and we feel watched, maybe because I live next to a police station), moreover, we are not at all on vacation, I feel that I’m getting sedentary classes. I dedicate as much time as possible to the lessons, but it is true that it’s very easy to be disturbed and deconcentrated. In any case, I would not be the most affected since I am used to work at home, so I do not do so badly, I have a lot of things to do at home and I try not to waste too much time (even if I end up playing on my computer 3 hours straight).

I think that the containment policy has revealed human’s true nature… When I go out for a walk, I see far too many people wearing masks, something that is useless for defending oneself from the coronavirus (unless for hospital or supermarket workers who meet thousands of people everyday), I mean, I don’t care what other people do, but right now, thousands of hospitals are in mask shortage, the places that need them most… But human selfishness does not stop there, sometimes I come across people who buy liters and liters of alcohol, and leave the farmacies empty, the same with toilet paper! (why ?).

My esteem for society has gone down again. On the other side I gained hope compared to the planet, we saw recently that nature returns everywhere in the world (We see more and more animals in the cities , CO2 emission rate drops enormously). This showed us that, in only a week, we could make progress if we put it all… obviously I hope the coronavirus will stop soon, but imagine how the world would be after a year. It is in these moments that we realize how much mankind harmed the planet 🌏.

Good point about people using masks!! How are you going to justify walking the dog in a mask?? Maybe the worst part is people wearing rubber gloves but then just taking them off and leaving them in the street??? WHY?! Makes me think that humans are the true pests!

Containment : Reflection

If you’re like me, constantly thinking, even though it may end up hurting, then in this period of containment this thinking has to come to a head.

Thought of everything and nothing at the same time, the thing that does what we are today.

In the past and present, see our future: question yourself.

We think about how we behaved, and how we should have reacted instead, when nothing can be changed from the past. We remember the momentous moments that made us suffer or laugh in the shine. You can imagine what you would do in that moment, which is what you could see, what you would talk about, movement, speech and gesture. Part of the things that we are to the people around us, and that is part of us in personality, even though it is a façade to protect us.

In this reflection we can understand a little more what we consider to be instinctive in our behavior. Understand that we could change to a better version of ourselves, seeing how many times we have hurt the people around us family, friends, strangers.

Would my question really be better if we thought about that for you?

Confinement Diary : First Week

My point of view :

After a week of confinement, people are still struggling to understand the meaning of the word. Despite the efforts of the authorities, many people continue to live as if nothing happened. (Shoutout to the child who skates all day in my street)

Personally I’m constantly looking for good points to this situation which disturbs our daily life : I discovered that I have a family and also got closer to my bed. Enough with the jokes, the adaptation to the new working format is quite hard but I manage to create a rhythm for myself. Another positive point is that we applaud every night the hospital related workers who, thanks to the stupid people who always go out, have an incredible difficulty in curing people in intensive care.

That’s all for this summary of my week, see you in 7 days for the next one!

Me and containment, week 1.

Hello everybody.
I hope you are all fine.
The first week of confinement has already passed, during this week I had several feelings. In truth, the first day when I knew that we will be entrusted to our home, I was happy but following the days this feeling really disappeared. In order not to get bored very strongly, I finally finished the book I wanted to read for a long time, his name is “Black Dragon” by Frederick Rapilly, if you like thrillers you will love this book.

 The book cover from Fnac.fr

Also, I cooked, I made chocolate cake🍫, with citrus🍋🍊, pancake for my mom and sister. And without forgetting homework, I have completed my revision sheets for BAC👩‍🏫.
AND I FINALLY GOT NETFLIX, MY BABY NETFLIX ❤❤❤. I don’t know how I lived without NETFLIX.

As well,1 day ago, a friend of my mom who works at the hospital contacted us to ask how we are. She talked for a long time with my mom, she told the situation that is happening in the hospital, it’s horrible. On TV you don’t really see the situation in hospitals, sometimes doctors 👩‍⚕‍👨‍⚕‍🏥 don’t even have time to sleep, go home or just take a shower. There are many families who have lost contact with his relatives and they never saw them again, it is really very sad😔. It made me understand how lucky we are to still be with our family. I noticed that I started to talk more with my friends👫, my relatives, I worry about my family👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 because we almost all have diseases that can worsen. It makes me sad to see people going out without any need. Really stay at home, take care of yourself, your families but also your loved ones, the neighbours. Maybe I will finally be at peace with my neighbours from below😂😂😂.

True!! Confinement means putting up with noisy neighbors. Still can’t figure out what the upstairs neighbor’s schedule is…

How you can “survive” the confinement in my opinion

It has been around 8 days since we have been put in confinement and for me, it’s not really easy to get to work as home is usually the place I only rest after school. But today, I decided I would be motivated and productive, I also hope to keep it that way during the rest of this taken mesure.

I would like to talk about how we can motivate ourselves even though I am not the best at this! My first advice is to wake up at the same time everyday and preferably just a little later than usual. Then you could take a quick shower (not too comfortably warm in order not to take too long) to wake up a little bit more, have some coffee, some tea or just a fruit juice and a good breakfast. Then get ready just as if you were going to school (the shoes, the coat and the makeup aren’t that necessary though). Then just sit at your desk and start working. I would recommend to set a to-do list for each day and follow it (even though my sister gave one to me but I didn’t really fill it at all 😂). Also why not start by the most interesting subjects or the easiest homework you have. And a really personal advice to follow only if it fits you: Some people are morning people and some are somewhat night people, so some would be more productive on mornings🌅 and some would only find the motivation when comes the night🌙 (that’s me 🙋‍♂️). Although try not to become a complete nyctalope (that is awake only during the night, like an owl 🦉) so that you don’t miss scheduled tests for example.

Now, let’s talk about “confinement activities”. This expression might seem a little innapropriate, or you might be thinking about yoga, drawing, gym on the TV etc. Actually, even though these activities are not bad at all for some of us, there are many occupations that were recently created! For example, around the entire world, people have been playing their instruments at their balconies to entertain their neighbours and give small concerts.

In fact, every Tuesday, at 12pm, every musicians around the world is invited to play at his or her balcony to make confinement funnier and happier! And as I’m writing, there is precisely one hour left until I destroy my neighbours eardrums 😂!

Last but not least, I was laughing about it earlier on, but actually, if you want to take a short break from working, you could do some fitness exercices like pushups, pull-ups, jumping-jacks, you could also just call your friends and FaceTime them so you can watch Netflix or Canal+ together haha!

In conclusion, it’s pretty complicated to keep the motivation to work in confinement. And although it seem pretty similar to usual holidays, it’s the complete opposite. So try to keep up as much as you can and I hope to see you soon! 😉

Brahms.

Life in the time of COVID-19

It’s nearly one week into the mandatory confinement in France. Schools have shut down, many people are working from home, we now have to have a legitimate excuse and permission slip to be outside. People who would usually shoulder check you on the sidewalk now give fellow pedestrians a wide berth. I discovered that the old woman who lives below me has Alzheimers and is fearfully shut into her apartment with her daughter. In a recent interaction with the friendly man who sweeps the street, I found out that the post office has closed and that he desperately needed a stamp to post a letter. I rushed home to give him my last stamp. Human interactions are earnest but transactional, masks and gloves aren’t the only barriers.

Here, with the help of my senior-year English students, I hope to collect and reflect on our human experiences as we navigate this peculiar time in our lives and recent history. This is my and their sincere attempt to cultivate our writing and reflection.
